Armenian tenor Yegishe Manucharyan is an acclaimed interpreter of Italian, French and Russian operatic repertoire.  The New York Newsday praised him for his “outstanding musical intelligence and for the purity, power, and flexibility of his voice,” while Boston Globe described him as “a clarion tenor, gorgeously ringing and heroically consistent from top to bottom.”          

 

Mr. Manucharyan made his Metropolitan Opera debut in 2011 singing Eustazio in Armida, sharing the stage with Renee Fleming. The highlights of his recent performing schedule include the roles of Lensky (Eugene Onegin) with Opera Carolina and Tulsa Opera, Alfredo (La Traviata) with Opera North; Eduardo (Un giorno di Regno) with Odyssey Opera, Rodolfo in La Bohème with Tulsa and Eugene Operas, and Ivan Lykov (Tsar’s Bride) with the Opera Orchestra of New York at Carnegie Hall.  His most recent success as Cavaradossi (Tosca) was greeted by Boston Musical Intelligencer as full of “passionate lyricism…both powerful and heart-wrenching.”

 

He made his New York City opera debut singing the role of Nadir in Pearl Fishers.  This engagement was followed by Ottavio in Don Giovanni at the company.  An acclaimed specialist in the bel canto repertoire, Mr. Manucharyan performed the roles of Riccardo in Donizetti’s Maria di Rohan at Wexford Festival; Leicester in Donizetti’s Maria Stuarta with San Diego Opera, Rodrigo in Rossini’s La donna del lago with the Minnesota Opera, and Count Almaviva in Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia with Toledo Opera, Duke of Mantua (Rigoletto) with the Baltimore Opera, and Percy in Anna Bollena with Opera Orchestra of New York at Carnegie Hall.  He performed the role of Argirio in Rossini’s Tancredi at Wexford Festival, Opera Boston and Warsaw Grand Opera alongside Ewa Podlis.  He appeared at Caramoor Opera as Potoski in Elisabetta—a rediscovered work by Gaetano Donizetti.

 

Highly in demand as a concert soloist, Yeghishe is known for his interpretation of Verdi’s Requiem, which he performed with Dallas Symphony, Charlotte Symphony, Orlando Philharmonic and Boston University Orchestra and Chorus at Symphony Hall, among others.  He is also in demand as a soloist in Berlioz’s Requiem, Beethoven’s Symphony #9 and Missa Solemnis. 

 

Yeghishe holds a Bachelor of Music from the Tchaikovsky Central Music School, a Master’s Degree from the Komitas State Conservatory and an Artist’s Diploma from the Boston University’s Opera Institute.
